Does natural skincare actually do anything?
A few years ago I go in the kick of only using natural/organic skincare.
I soon found that while it was lovely to use, smelled nice and felt good (no chemicals is always a good thing), unfortunately except for a few things, most of them just didn't do much.
I quickly went back to my potent "actives" and just made a point of paying closer attention to what I was slathering all over myself.
As an Esty, I've used many, many (many) things over the years and I can honestly say, that when I find something I like, it's a revelation!
I, like you, have had many disappointments after purchasing something only to find it didn't live up to its hype. I try to vet all products before recommending them.
Overall, I would say I opt for more natural skincare in the daytime, and then I use my actives at night (Sculplla, Neogenesis, retinols, etc.)
If you are looking to use natural products more often to minimize the chemical assault we live with, I would highly recommend doing a little trial and error work to find the best mix for you.
I have to say, you will not see a lot of results with just natural products--they just don't have the actives that will really make a difference, but trying to use them once daily vs. all day is a good start!
My Choices:
I use the
SupremeFirm serum; it is a lightly firming serum packed with natural/organic ingredients. It has DMAE, a firming component I really like. I usually mix in some Vitamin C, too. It's either this or the
Cica Pepta (
I can't over how many peptides are in this and for such a good price). I've seen the best results by using those.
