HAPPY JUNE!
LED RED LIGHT BACK IN STOCK!
Top Anti-Crepey Skin Tips:
Crepey skin...we all suffer from it as we age.
Is it just old, wrinkled skin?
Yes and no.
There are schools of thought on what causes the crepe. The top are:
- Lack of hydration (inner and outer)
- Glycation (a type of hardening of the skin due to sugars in our diet)
- Sun exposure
My thoughts are that it's a vile mix of the three as well as one not often mentioned in the hyped creams and potions claiming to get rid of it:
EXFOLIATION!
I'm not talking about simple shower scrubs and light lactic peels. I'm talking about deep-down peeling and removal of the top layers of skin (safely).
This requires not only pro-level tools but patience. Unless you want to take a pricey trip to a dermatologist who can safely remove serious layers of skin (get ready for a big price tag AND recovery time), the best way to do this yourself is to gear up for a process.
Number one:
You've got to commit to the continued exfoliation system
Number two
: You must be prepared to get serious about the potions you are using
Number three
: Patience grasshopper. It will take time.
I've been doing a DIY home crepe repair system; testing multiple things and trying to piece together something that works.
Here's my routine:
Twice weekly
exfoliation
with either a diamond-head microdermabrasion tool and/or acid peel. Best solution is the dermabrasion on a Monday and the (light) acid peel on a Thursday. (Do not do a peel of higher than 15% if also doing a dermabrasion.)
Next:
Do you need pricey creams?
Nope. A simple good quality oil is what I've found that works the best. I tried a light lactic acid cream from the drugstore and it also helped (Amlactin Smooth cream). Not bad, but I simply use my oils for the best, fastest, purest moisture.
Third:
Retinol
- a good-quality retinol is what you need. I like Paula's Choice 1%. I also have a custom blended retinoid that is a little higher percentage which is good. I haven't found a drugstore brand that does much of anything (yet).
Sunscreen
- I apply 35 to 50 SPF whenever I'm even close to being outside.
My arms, legs, hands and even feet are my most crepey areas and this is where I am spending the bulk of my time working. I'm seeing slow results...but
actual results
!
I'm also doing some
LED red light
on my hands weekly (about 3-5 minutes per hand). It takes some time, but I'm getting some plumpness back after about 3-4 weeks.
The bottom line...
You cannot get results for crepey skin without a good, deep exfoliation to remove the hardened upper layer of cells. Period.
Once you do this, you can work with products that will deliver results. Again, it takes time, but if you are diligent you will see results within a couple of weeks!
I have even done some microneedling, applied my CAVI PLLA serum and then the red light therapy. If done before bed (when you won't be washing your hands), you will see some nice results after 2-3 sessions!
I will keep you posted...
